What is MOPS?
Mothers of Preschoolers, or MOPS, is a program designed to nurture mothers with children from infancy through kindergarten. MOPS groups meet in churches throughout the United States and all over the world. MOPS is about celebrating motherhood, meeting needs, making connections and experiencing God's love, through relationships and resources.
Our MOPS group here at Northminster Presbyterian Church exists to help meet your needs. Our monthly meetings are the center of our MOPS program. In addition to these meetings, we offer a variety of activities to help you grow in your relationships, both with other moms and with God. We invite you to get involved in these activities, including play dates, Sanity Nights, Bible Study and outreach programs. We are always interested in way to better meet your needs as mothers.
A typical MOPS morning includes an informal time for refreshments and fellowship, followed by speaker time. During the presentation, subjects relating to women, marriage, child rearing and relationships are discussed from a biblical perspective. Following the speaker, small discussion groups meet to provide honest interaction, deepening friendships and spiritual enrichment. Finally, a craft time promotes a sense of accomplishment through creative expression.
Our theme for the 2005-06 year is "Twinkle: Shine Like Stars in the Universe." The theme is based on Philippians 2:15. In previous verses, Paul challenges us to imitate the humility of Christ by putting our faith in action. When we live as Jesus lived, we “shine like stars.” Each month this year, we will feature a different topic aimed at providing practical ideas to help moms shine in their lives as women, wives and mothers.
What will my children be doing during the meeting?
The ministry of MOPPETS is not about "babysitting." It is a quality program based on a preschool curriculum designed specifically to care for the needs of infants, toddlers, preschoolers and kindergartners.
Planned activities contribute to the child's social growth through participation and group play, physical and creative development through games, crafts and exercise, as well as spiritual enrichment through Bible stories and music.
Our children are treated to a morning of stories, games, songs, crafts, play time, snacks and lots of love!
What are the specifics?
Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month, 9:15-11:30 a.m., from September through May. The cost for the year is $19.95 and goes directly to MOPS International.
